Extreme Research, Cowboy Style

Raygan (my screenwriting partner) and I have been working on a script for the better part of the last two years. It's a bull riding comedy. It's hilarious. In an effort to research the film, we've read books and articles, we've watched films on bull riding, we've attended rodeos and we've even taken a trip to Pecos, TX, home of the world's first rodeo.
But now Raygan is taking things to a whole new level.
Next week, Raygan will ride a bull. A real bull. Lot's of real bulls. He is attending a week long bull riding boot camp hosted by Gary Leffew (who trained Luke Perry for "8 Seconds").
I shall not be joining him for the following reasons: (1) I am a great big wuss, (2) I don't have the insurance, (3) I really am a great big wuss, and (4) I just couldn't pick out the right pair of boots to match my cowboy hat.
Besides, I've already put my life at risk for one of our film projects. For "The Gospel According to Marquee," I drove (without car insurance) a fifteen passenger church van with basically no brakes down Interstate 40 at 70mph every day for a week. It took a mile and both feet jammed down on the brake pedal to stop. Seriously. But these make for good stories if we make it. If we don't, they still make for good stories.
But this is your moment, Raygan. Cowboy up!
